Dance Partners

Dance is a collaborative art; from the choreographer-performer relationship to the more obvious pairing of individual dancers, dance often manifests through the joining of two (or more) partners. This weekend, a different kind of partnership takes the stage, as St. Louis' Modern American Dance Company (MADCO) teams with Detroit's Eisenhower Dance Ensemble for two performances at the Touhill Performing Arts Center on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road). The show not only unites two of the nation's premier dance companies, but it also blends the work of no less than six acclaimed choreographers. Highlights include MADCO's performance of Janice Garrett's breakneck-pace Rapid Brass, while the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble performs new work by acclaimed choreographer Michael Foley. The MADCO-Eisenhower event begins at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday (February 1 and 2); tickets are $18 to $20. Visit www.madcodance.com for more information.
